How to get to our Hotel
Star Mountain is located in Mal Pais on the Pacific side of Costa Rica on the southern tip of the Nicoya Peninsula.
We are 2 km uphill from the village and beach of Mal Pais, on the road to Cabuya, Montezuma and the Cabo Blanco National Park.

By Car:
From San Jose, Monteverde or Arenal drive to the port town of Puntarenas to take the ferry to Paquera, across the Gulf of Nicoya.
From the northern areas of Costa Rica like Liberia or Tamarindo drive south via the town of Nicoya to Paquera.
From Paquera continue west through Tambor and Cobano until Mal Pais. At the Mal Pais /Santa Teresa intersection take a left into Mal Pais until you arrive at Mary’s restaurant. Right after Mary’s is the road to Cabuya to your left. Continue uphill through the jungle, crossing 2 creeks, and after 2km you see the Star Mountain entrance gate to your right. Please note that you need a 4WD for the roads in our area.
By Air:
The fastest way to get to the lodge is via a 25-minute flight from San Jose Airport to Cobano with » Sansa Airlines or with » Green Airways.
There are several car rental agencies in Cobano. We recommend renting a 4×4 to navigate the roads in our region.
